Where does the Lafayette Symphony perform?
The LSO performs in the heart of downtown Lafayette. The Grand Series concerts take place in the historic Long Center for the Performing Arts, located at 111 N. 6th Street. The B-Side Series is held at Carnahan Hall, located at 800 Main Street in Lafayette.
Where should I park?
On concert nights, free curbside parking is available throughout the downtown area, as well as in the parking garage at 5th and Columbia Streets.
Where should I stay if I am coming from out of town?
We recommend the Hilton Garden Inn and Best Western as excellent hotel accommodations. The Holiday Inn Select is also very close to the Long Center.
Are group discounts available?
We offer 25% off of ticket prices for a group of ten or more when the tickets are purchased together, as well as group seating arrangements.
Can I bring my children?
We love that you want to share your enthusiasm for music with your kids! We offer the Lollipop concert annually which is perfect for introducing youth to the symphony experience. However, regular series concerts require an attention span that is difficult for children to maintain and therefore are not recommended for young kids. You know your child best!
What if I have tickets, but will be unable to attend the performance?
While there are no refunds on purchased tickets, you have three options: 1.) Exchange your tickets for tickets to a different show, 2.) Turn in your tickets to the office as a charitable donation, or 3.) Share them with a friend that you think would enjoy an LSO performance.
How long is a typical concert?
Concerts vary in length depending on the programming, but most are about 2 hours in length, including a 20 minute intermission.
What should I wear to a concert?
Whatever makes you comfortable – there’s no dress code! Concerts are a social occasion and a fun outing with friends or family. Most people will be wearing business to business-casual attire – anything from khaki pants to cocktail dresses.
When should I arrive?
For 7:30 pm concerts, doors to the lobby and the box office open at 6:30 pm, and the performance hall opens at 6:45 pm. We encourage you to arrive as early as possible so you have time to get comfortable, buy a drink at concessions, read the program book and watch the orchestra warm-up.
Can I bring food or drink into the theater?
Snacks and beverages purchased from the Long Center Concessions may be taken into the theater.
When should I clap?
Traditionally, it is considered good etiquette to applaud after a piece is entirely complete, and not between movements. You can find how many movements a piece has by looking in your program book – or simply take your cue from the conductor, and wait until his baton is lowered to his side.
Is photography, videotaping, or recording allowed?
The LSO does not permit audio or video recording of its performances on any device. Non-flash photography is allowed – announcements will be made at the concert to guide you.
