Have Fun, get involved, and make a difference!

The Symphony employs full and part time staff, but relies on hundreds of volunteers each year to make our programs a reality. Volunteers help during our concerts at the Long Center and at free education programs such as the Symphony-On-The-Go. Over 30,000 people attend our concerts each year. In addition to concerts, volunteers are critical in every facet of the symphony. Whether you choose to volunteer as an individual, or become a member of Lafayette Symphony Guild, we welcome you into the symphony family. At the Symphony there is something for everyone. Please review the following area needs to see which one is right for you!

Whether you’re still in school, work the second shift or are retired from the 9 to 5, we can find the perfect spot for you when you volunteer at the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra. Check out some of the volunteer opportunities on this website, and call us for more information at 765-742-6463.

Concert Ushers

Concert Ushers tear tickets, escort patrons to seats if needed, and are familiar with the Long Center so that volunteers can give directions to restrooms, coat check, and exits. Volunteers may attend concerts if seating is available. Saturday Evenings of concerts.

Symphony-On-The-Go Ushers and Parking Coordinators

Each year the LSO presents two free concerts for over 2000 young people. Ushers for this event escort schools in and out of the building. Parking Coordinators help make sure school busses are parked in the correct areas and escort children across downtown streets.

Administrative Volunteers

Administrative Volunteers help the Symphony in many ways, such as assisting the public relations staff with mailing press releases; helping the development department with mailings requesting contributions and thanking those who make contributions; and helping with general administrative duties such as filing and computer data entry.

LSO Guild

The Lafayette Symphony Guild is a membership organization of the Lafayette Symphony. The guild supports the symphony through fundraisers throughout the year and serves as ambassadors in the community. The guild also holds several fellowship events and is an active and important part of the LSO family. Call the LSO office to learn more about becoming a member!
